Report # 10883  (Class B)
Submitted by witness on Wednesday, March 9, 2005.
Footprint found on the Siksika Nation Reserve near Cluny.
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2005

SEASON: Winter

MONTH: February

DATE: 13

PROVINCE: Alberta

COUNTRY: Canada

LOCATION DETAILS: On the Siksika Nation reserve. From Cluny head south to what is known as "south Camp". A communinty.

NEAREST TOWN: Cluny

NEAREST ROAD: Trans Canada

OBSERVED: On Sunday, Febuary 13, 2005 I got a call from my brother-in-law. He asked if I could come out to his property to look at a track in his back yard.I arrived shortly with my younger brother and what we saw was what appeared to be a humanoid foot print in front of his car. It was a single track because it was in a patch of mud about two feet in circumference. Around the mud patch was hard grassy soil.

We took measurements and the track was approx.10-10.5 inches long. It was approx. 4 inches wide at the top of the foot and was approx. 3 inches wide at the heel. The impression was about a half to 1 inch deep.

The following is what my brother noted on a piece of paper:

"Imprint shows mud pushed off to the left side as though subject was pushing off of the foot to move to the right. Imprint also appears to be flat footed and without garments such as socks or footwear."

"Big toe seems to be seperated from other toes and all other toes have about a quarter inch gap in between."

"Foot print is a left foot."
"Time - 7:35 pm date - sun., feb.13, 05"

We also took a plaster cast however upon extraction of the cast it came apart. I did manage to to salvage all of the pieces and glue the casting together. I have pictures of both the imprint and the casting for your veiwing but I don't know your email or if you are interested I'm sure you will contact me.

My brother-in-law does not come across as a man who looks for attention nor is a prankster. In fact he wishes not to be mentioned and does not want all kinds of people at his place causing a commotion. The reason he called me was because he knew I was a sasquatch fanactic and maybe I could give him some insight from what little knowlage I have.

Don't get us wrong, we are not saying that this is a sasquatch track. We would only like to have some sort of answer as to what it is. If it turns out to be human then that would be fine;we could leave it alone. It's just that I find it odd to be where we found it.

ALSO NOTICED: It's just a little unusual for a shoeless foot print to be found in the middle of winter. The snow just started to melt but it was stil cold outside infact, when my brother and I had left it had just started to blizzard.

OTHER WITNESSES: Occuppants of home. Two adults and approx. five kids.

OTHER STORIES: Just second hand stories of sightings and screams heard from others on the reserve in different parts. As a matter of fact, I heard a story about a man being pushed from behind and being partially buried by dirt by a "large, hairy black figure" a number of years back. Mind you, the man was drunk at the time. There are other stories as well, but I won't go into detail because I am trying to get the facts for myself as we speak.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Approx. 7:30 p.m. Night. Dark with little light.

ENVIRONMENT: In a community of houses near a highway. Also near Siksika Golf Resort. Community sits alongside the Bow River with some forest brush.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Stan Courtney:

I spoke with the witness by phone.

The witness stated that the weather in February had been quite variable. The temperatures had briefly been above freezing and then plummeted to 30 degrees below zero. At the time the footprint was found in the mud it had been above freezing. The footprint measured about ten inches long and four inches wide.

The witness did provide me with several photographs of both the footprint and the cast. The pictures did not show enough detail to be posted with this report.
