LOCATION DETAILS: We had a small hunting camp for 3 days off of Norway Pass. Poor weather, cold and windy.

OBSERVED: heard knocking on a tree after splitting firewood. Hours later we woke to something that roared/screamed and thought our tent was slapped.

ALSO NOTICED: never found tracks. We scrambled out of our tent at 1am with flashlights and guns and even searched a short distance around camp.

OTHER WITNESSES: 1 witness, at 9pm sitting by fire while I was splitting wood. At 1am we were both sleeping and startled awake with scream and slap.

OTHER STORIES: yes, read about a really old Bigfoot attack near our location in the early 1900's.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: 9pm and 1am approx

ENVIRONMENT: We were camping in a small clearing surrounded by medium trees in the blow down side of Mt st helens. We were on a cliff knoll with steep terrain below us and dense trees and brush.

I talked to the witness by phone.

The witness and his father-in-law were in a remote spot near Strawberry Lake. It was the first night of the elk hunting trip but they did not bag anything that day. They saw another elk camp about ten miles away but that was the only other camp they were aware of.

After splitting firewood, they heard two very loud knocks. The witness then hit a tree about twelve inches in diameter with a piece of firewood but it was not very loud. One minute later, one very loud knock was returned.

Exact time unsure, but around 1 am they were awakened by a slap on their tent. It sounded as if a broom or large bough hit the tent. They got out of the tent and did not find any broken boughs. They were back asleep when a roar next to the tent awakened them. The witness described it sounding like a train. Again, they got out of the tent to look around.

They did not find any tracks nor smell any foul odor. They saw three elk the next morning.

Mt. St. Helens erupted on May 18, 1980. There is a long history of Bigfoot activity in this area. Kevin has camped, fished and hunted in Eastern Washington all his life. His interest in Sasquatch began when he was 10 years old and saw Roger Patterson present "the" film. He lives in Eastern Washington.
